ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੇਸਕੀ ਸਜਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਬੀਬੀ ਹੈ,
ਜੋ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਚਲਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। 'ਡੇਲੀ ਟੈਲੀਗ੍ਰਾਫ਼' ਵਿਚ ਛਪੀ ਰੀਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ
ਅਪਣੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਹਿਣ 'ਤੇ ਲਗਭਗ ਸੱਤ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ
ਤਕ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਤ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਕ ਜੁੜ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ
ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ
ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ
ਟਵਿਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਸਬੁਕ 'ਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਜਕਲ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਲਾਗ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਬਲਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ ਇਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਸੰਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
20 ਸਾਲਾ ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਫ਼ਿਲਹਾਲ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ
ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਸਕੀ ਸਜਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਤ
ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ
ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ
ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਲੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਪੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਪੜੇ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਲਾਗ ਚਲਾਉਣਾ ਹੀ
ਕਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਬਾਰੇ
ਵੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਈ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ
ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ
ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਪਸੰਦ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

Style queen Karan Kaur is fast becoming a
household name in the international Sikh community.
Miss Kaur, of Glendenning, is the first female Sikh fashion blogger in
the world to make her turban the centrepiece of her blog.
About 72,296 claimed Sikhism as their religion in the 2011 Census of
Australia.
At the urging of her friends, Miss Kaur started her Instagram fashion
blog Style With Kaur seven months ago and now has more than 7000
followers.
“My friends and family were like ‘you should really start up a fashion
blog for Sikh women’- because obviously, when we’re representing our
religion, you have to wear modest clothing and still be fashionable,”
she said.
“So I was actually going to start up a website but I thought I’d start
up an Instragram Twitter and Facebook because that’s so much more
important these days,
“I was like, I’ll just start up instagram and see where it goes.”
The
blog took off quicker than Miss Kaur expected with about 1000 followers
within the first month.
“I would get personal messages from people (around the world) that would
ask me, ‘I have my prom coming up. I want to wear ... modest clothing’.
So people ask me what’s an alternative.
“I’ve gotten really good feedback, people saying it’s inspiring for them
... not to be shy about (their religion).”
The 20-year-old business student is now preparing to study fashion next
year and create her website to inspire other Sikh women to wear the
turban.
“This is my turban. this is the main reason I started Style With Kaur,”
she said.
“Living in a western society wear you’re putting yourself out there with
social media. It’s a really hard thing.
“You know people are saying you shouldn’t put your religion and fashion
together. It doesn’t go hand in hand. It’s just stupid comments like
that.
“But obviously the good comments always shadow over the bad ones.”
One day Miss Kaur wants to design Sikh garments that mix modern styles
and traditional values.
“I feel that these days are so hard to find clothes that are modest and
look stylish. Especially being in a price range where we can afford as
well.
“I would love to design clothing or to cater for Sikh women’s needs or
other religion needs as well.”
Designing clothes and blogging is not the end for Miss Kaur, she would
also like to introduce the turban to the runway.
“In other countries Sikh men have modelled for Louis Vuitton and Tommy
Halfinger, Gap and been the face of Samsung and it’s all been men, it’s
not been a Sikh woman that’s modelled.
“I would love to change that; I would love to model for Chanel or Louis
Vuitton.”
Singh Street Style, run by male blogger Pardeep Singh Bahrawas, was the
first fashion blog to feature turban-centred outfits.
