ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਡਾ: ਬੈਂਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ, ਵੇਸਵਾਗਮਨੀ,
ਭਰੂਣ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਏਡਜ਼ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਭੈੜੀਆਂ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ, ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ
ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ, ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਲੀ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਬਦਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ
ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ।

ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਮਿਲ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ

Canada (March 20, 2015)—A lifetime achiever and well known community
activist Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains has been honored with the ‘Prime Minister’s
Voluntary Award’ in recognition of his tremendous accomplishments through
long years of selfless service to the society in Canada and beyond its
global borders. Dr. Bains is first Indian born Canadian to get this
prestigious award.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper bestowed the
prestigious award upon Mr Bains in an elite gathering and congratulated all
the winners and commended their tremendous accomplishments in service of the
society.
The Prime Minister’s Volunteer Award was first established in 2011 to honor
the scintillating volunteers and social activists who give so much to their
fellow citizens—the unsung heroes who volunteer their time, their efforts
and a great deal of their lives to helping others, and who ask for nothing
in return. The award recognizes the community activists for achieving the
highest cumulative results. It also highlights the fine example set by the
volunteers whose compassion and engagements are so much a part of Canadian
character to serve the needy, incapacitated, sick and the disadvantaged
people. Prime Minister’s prestigious award is presented annually.
Recipient of the award, Raghbir Singh Bains is an eminent community
activist, dedicated environmentalist, reputed philanthropist, encyclopediast,
known museologist, an eminent drug therapist and a lifetime crusader against
the global menace of drugs, flesh trading, sexual assaults, bullying,
domestic violence, feticide and other social evils.
Mr Bains did an extensive research on HIV-AIDS in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya
to curb the menace. For the last so many years, he has continuously been
arranging seminars, youth camps and community campaigns to celebrate World
AIDS Day for creating awareness about this deadly disease.
He is a committed environmentalist. He got most of his professional
education in Canada and America. He has volunteered with a number of
organizations to stop the increasing pollution in air, water and earth also.
He is passionate volunteer who creates and distributes free literature to
strap and end the socio-cultural evils spreading in the global society.
Mr Bains is a renowned scholar of computer age. He is founder producer of
the 1st of its kind ‘Encyclopaedia of Sikhism’ on Multimedia Technology in
the world which was released by the then Prime Minister of Canada in the
Parliament House on 11th December, 1996. – A tribute to his outstanding
commitment, dedication, untiring and relentless hard work spread over a
period of more than 16 years.
Mr Bains is global record holder for setting up six ‘Multimedia Sikh
Museums’ in the world where he used robotic and touch screen technology.
He is a major milestone achiever in furthering the cause of multicultural
and interfaith harmony. He helps the new immigrants in Canada to settle
promptly in the new country of their choice.
He is a long time member of the Surrey-Delta Seniors Society, BC and helps
the seniors as and when they need his services including complementary
transport etc.
Mr Bains has experience of working on various advisory committees in Canada.
He is a known fund raiser for many charities. He is an established writer of
various classic books.
He is longtime advisor to Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib (India), and Nishan-E-Sikhi
Charitable Trust (Regd). These organizations are engaged in promoting
socio-cultural values, sports, education and global environment.
An octogenarian, Mr Bains has touched the lives of countless people at their
darkest moments, offering them comfort and selfless support to lead a happy
life.
He stands for human liberty, equality and fraternity without any leanings
towards caste, colour and creed of an individual. He is an asset not only to
the Canadian society but also to the entire human race.
Mr Bains is winner of dozens of local, national and international awards,
honours, titles and accolades for doing selfless service to the global
people. After winning great honours from various countries, he has now
scooped up another Canada’s most venerable award. Mr Bains is on a
laurel-winning spree and it looks like there is no stopping for him in doing
volunteer service.
Born in India, Mr Bains subsequently moved to Canada in 1990. In giving
gratitude for the award, Bains thanked Almighty Lord, his parents, family,
friends, his role models, mentors and the people of multicultural society of
Canada for supporting him to work for wellbeing, peace and prosperity of the
global society. He further said, “It’s in my bones to serve humanity. Now
more responsibility has fallen on my shoulders. I will continue doing
volunteer service to the society with more zeal and honest commitment.”
