EARTH DAY – ‘Planet
Southall’ – 22nd April 2015
LETTTER TO 10
DOWNING STREET
From Jagdeesh
Singh, National Liberal Party candidate for EALING SOUTHALL
Today,
on behalf of SOUTHALL, I wish to convey this message of frustration,
dejection and feeling of discrimination to the UK Government.
EALING SOUTHALL
has been subjected to decades of physical and environmental neglect. This is
ever more visibly evident in the run down streets, litter, grime and grot
that has become a mainstream feature of Southall.
Despite claims
of change, improvement and investment, Southall remains a neglected,
unwanted, undesirable part of the London Borough of Ealing and of London as
a whole.
It is no
coincidence, that Southall is the hub and heartland of a mixed, diversity of
communities from South Asia and beyond. This heartland of diverse
communities, which is a vibrant and lively collection of peoples who have
settled in the UK together with newly arrived peoples; has been treated like
a dump for decades.
For all the
British government’s and politicians officious rhetoric about ‘community
cohesion’, Southall is a model of such interactive, cohesive life. Yet,
nowhere is Southall celebrated or recognised on the national map or national
picture of the UK. Southall is plainly ignored, as a reject part of Ealing,
London and the UK.
Southall has
been left to clog up, be choked by pollution and become run down. This
impacts both on the physical and mental well-being of the people of
Southall. The natural landscape, environment and cleanliness of Southall has
been left to continuously decline and deteriorate, through official neglect
and ommissions.
This is an
injustice to the people of Southall. Southall deserves better. Southall
deserves equality and parity with the rest of the lush, clean, green Borough
of Ealing. It deserves recognition in national dialogues. Southall is a
positive success story of community life, community arrivals and settlement
and cohesion.
Southall is a
model for Britain. Southall demands change!

EARTH DAY
22nd April 2015: Planet Southall
EALING
SOUTHALL NATIONAL LIBERAL PARTY CANDIDATE TAKES UP 'PLANET SOUTHALL' CAMPAIGN
for A CLEANER, GREENER, HEALTHIER SOUTHALL
Jagdeesh
Singh to cycle to Downing Street on EARTH DAY with a message of government
action and recognition for Southall - PLANET SOUTHALL!
"Southall is clogged, choked and treated like a dump."
JAGDEESH
SINGH, National Liberal Party (not Liberal Democrats) candidate for EALING
SOUTHALL, will mark Earth Day (22nd April 2015) tomorrow in Southall with
'PLANET SOUTHALL' and cycle to Downing Street with a powerful message of
change and recognition for Southall.
Jagdeesh a
passionate activist for nature and the earth, is calling for a cleaner,
greener, healthier Southall.
He will
focus on three actions by Southall's residents: 1. GO VEGGIE, 2. CYCLE
instead of drive, 3. RECYCLE & RE-USE instead of rubbish. Jagdeesh says all
of these are positive things that we as people and a society can do, to help
nature, the planet and climate change.
He says
with the right attitude and key changes, we can make Southall a positive
model of earth friendly living - 'PLANET SOUTHALL'.
Jagdeesh
Singh says going veggie, cycling and recycling are powerful healthy
positives. "Currently, we have continuing poisonous car pollution, mammoth
waste, meat madness which involves hundreds times more water waste than
ordinary plant food and more greenhouse emissions than aeroplanes and 4x4s."
Jagdeesh
Singh says: "We can make a change individually and collectively, or bear the
consequences of our selfish inaction and persistence with anti-earth
lifestyles." He says Southall is choked everyday by chaotic, mass traffic.
The streets of Southall are profusely grimy, grotty and litter ridden.
Southall is abandoned as an undesirable, unwanted part of Ealing Borough,
with abject neglect and disregard by officialdom.
The message
from local and central government is clear. Whilst the mix of Southall's
communities is a uniquely wonderful example of social cohesion, the quality
of life in Southall is greatly undermined through official neglect. Litter,
grime, urban decay, drugs, pollution blight Southall. "Southall is clogged,
choked and treated like a dump."
Southall
has continued to deteriorate over decades under the double-neglect of a
Labour council and a Labour MP. Tommorrow, on Earth Day, Jagdeesh Singh will
cycle to Downing Street.
Leaving at
10am from Southall-Hayes bridge next to the TA centre (Uxbridge Road),
Jagdeesh Singh will deliver a message to Downing Street that Southall
deserves radical change and recognition and positive action. In response to
Margaret Thatcher's dismissive comments about 'Sikhs raising their own flag
in Southall', Jagdeesh Singh will be symbolically taking flags of different
communities with him to Downing Street.
Persons
wishing to support this, can meet at Southall-Hayes Bridge tomorrow at 10am
for a send off.
