8 January 2017, Patiala –
Panthic Parcharak Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale has
advised the people of the state to think hard and use their
democratic vote very carefully in the upcoming 2017 Punjab
Legislative Assembly Election.
Speaking to the thousands in attendance at the Parmeshar
Dwar Monthly Samagam on Saturday 7 January 2017, Bhai Ranjit
Singh Khalsa explained how many so-called “saviours” will
begin to canvass the homes of the Punjabi people in the
run-up to the election, in a bid to secure votes for their
political party.
“Recognise these people and be vigilant”, he said, whilst
disclosing the fact he too has been receiving the normal
approaches from many, even from those higher up in the
political chain. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa did not shy away
from divulging the contents of a short ‘no thank you’
rejection to such leaders. The total neglect of Bhai
Bhupinder Singh’s murder in May 2016 was also mentioned.
With less than a month to go, the polling is due to take
place on 4 February 2017 and results will be declared in
March.
Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said, “When you vote for a
politician, in effect you align yourself to that
politician.”
“Whatever mistakes that political leader makes, you must
accept the fact that you will personally also share a
percentage of the responsibility for the sins the elected
leader may commit.”
“You must think wisely and step cautiously, that is the
reason why the right to vote is granted only at eighteen
years of age, so one is old enough to independently make
sensible decisions.”
“Do not vote with a sleeping conscience.”
Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa requested that at the time of
voting, one must keep in mind the torn limbs of Guru Granth
Sahib Ji scattered across the villages of Punjab and picture
Guru Sahib Ji’s sacred Saroops thrown into rivers. After
taking into account those heart-breaking events, only then
with careful consideration should the final decision be made
during the polling process.
“Do not let them bury your conscience in exchange for money
and bottles of alcohol, awaken your conscience and listen to
your inner voice”, he advised.
