ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ
ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਅਪਣਾ ਬਚਾਅ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਧ-ਫੁੱਲ ਵੀ।
ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ
ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਕਹਾਵਤ ਹੈ,
"Those
who fail to learn from their History, are doomed to repeat it.
ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਇਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ
1947 ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਇਸੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਕੇ 1984 ਦਾ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ ਵੀ ਭੁਗਤਣਾ ਪਿਆ।
ਅਜ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ 1984 ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਜਾ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ ਵੀ
ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ
ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੋਮਪੳਰੲ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਵਾਕਈ ਕੁਝ similaritiesਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?
ਪਹਿਲਾ (ਜਾਂ ਛੋਟਾ) ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ 1746 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਸਪਤ
ਰਾਇ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਵੱਢਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਸਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਲੱਖਪਤ ਰਾਇ ਨੇ ਯਹੀਆ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ।
ਮਾਰਚ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜੂਨ 1746 ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲੇ ਇਸ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਵਿੱਚ 7000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ
ਹੋਏ। ਇਸਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਰਹੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਇਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਤੇ ਸੀ
ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਹੀਰ (ਬੱਚੇ, ਬੀਬੀਆਂ, ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਆਦਿ) ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਏ ਅਤੇ
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਵੀ।
ਵੱਡਾ ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰਾ ਫਰਵਰੀ 1762 ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ
ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਅਬਦਾਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਹੱਥ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਹੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ
ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਪਰ ਅਬਦਾਲੀ ਇੰਨੀ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਘੇਰੇ
ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਏ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਨ ਤਲੀ ਤੇ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਵਹੀਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦੇ-2 ਜੰਗ
ਲੜੀ। ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਅਬਦਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਭੁੱਖੇ-ਭਾਣੇ ਤੇ
ਥੱਕੇ-ਟੁੱਟੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੲਡੲਨਚੲ ਲਨਿੲ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਵਹੀਰ ਦਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਸਕੀ।
ਤੀਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਰਸ਼
ਤੋਂ ਅਰਸ਼ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ।
ਪਰ 1984 ਵੇਲੇ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਾਬਰ
ਤੇ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਤਰ ਵੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੀਡਰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਸਕੇ। ਸਿੱਖ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ
ਇੱਕ ਧਿਰ ਉਹ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਪ ਚਿੱਠੀਆਂ ਲਿੱਖ ਫੌਜ ਨੂੰ
ਬੁਲਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਦੂਜੀ ਧਿਰ ਉਹ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ
ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ-ਤੋੜ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸੇ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਈ
ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
ਤੀਜੀ ਧਿਰ ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਸਾਜ਼ੋ-ਸਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਲੈੱਸ,
ਸਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਕ ਸਿਖਾਣ ਆਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੱਧ
ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋਵੇ। ਕਰਫਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਢਿੱਲ ਵੀ ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਹੀਰ (ਸੰਗਤ)
ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸ ਲੀਡਰ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ?
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਵਾਲੇ ਓਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵੁੱਡਰੋਜ਼, ਓਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ, ਪੰਜਾਬੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ
ਲਿਸਟਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਣਾ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਢਹਿ-ਢੇਰੀ
ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, (40 ਹੋਰ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਿਕ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਅਜਾਇਬ ਘਰ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ,
ਹਥ-ਲਿਖਤ ਹੁਕਮਨਾਮੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਭੁਲਾ
ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ achievement ਸਮਝੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ? ਆਪਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ
ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਡਾ. ਇਕਬਾਲ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਨਾਹ ਵਰਗੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ
ਖੂਨ ਡੋਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਬਣਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਪਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਖੂਨ ਹੀ ਡੋਲ੍ਹਿਆ, ਖੱਟਿਆ
ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਾ।
ਕਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਡੋਗਰਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ Caretaker ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀ, ਮਾ. ਤਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਲੀਡਰ
ਸੀ। ਅਜ ਇਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਸੱਚ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਹੈ ਪਰ 1984 ਦੀ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ
ਦਾ ਸੱਚ ਕਦੋਂ ਬੋਲਾਂਗੇ? ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਸੱਚ ਸੁਣ ਤੇ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਤੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਤਰੱਕੀ
ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁੱਲ ਸਕਦੇ। ਅਜ ਹਾਲਤ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੌਮੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਸੁਚਿਦਿੳਲ ੳਚਟ ਨਹੀਂ
ਹੈ?
ਇਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ:
ਕੂੜ ਨਿਖੁਟੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਓੜਕਿ ਸਚ ਰਹੀ॥
ਝੂਠ ਦੇ ਬੱਦਲ ਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ, ਸੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੀ
ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਸ਼ਰਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਏ। ਅਗਲੇ ਲੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚੀ ਲ਼ਡਿਰਸ਼ਿਪ

1984 Tragedy and
ਕੂੜ
ਨਿਖੁਟੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਓੜਕਿ ਸਚ ਰਹੀ॥
NOTE: For the info of readers, we are presenting these articles in
response to a question asked during Sikh Youth Symposium debate, How you
can completely eliminate Sikh Qaum without violence. The participants
answered by introducing Drugs, abandoning Mother-tongue Punjabi and
promoting rivals of Guru Granth Sahib, like pakhandi babe etc. Here we
discussed how incapable Leaders can also destroy the whole nation,
community. This is the part where we discuss 1984 blunders.
There is a saying, "Those who fail to learn from their History, are
doomed to repeat it.
Same thing is happening with us. We didnt learn from the mistakes of
1947, hence we had to suffer again in 1984.
Now a days, so many Sikh scholars call attack on Sri Darbar Sahib as
Third Ghallughara. Then it becomes very important for us to understand
and compare other two Ghallughare and see whether there are any
similarities among those two and the attack of 1984?
First Ghallughara (Genocide) happened between March and June of
1746. More than 7000 Sikhs got killed during that but the Sikh
leadership showed a remarkable thing. Even during worst times, they
surrounded and protected the Youth, Women and Elderly Singhs with their
best abilities, although they had to shed their blood and gave their
lives.
Second Ghallughara happened in February 1762. Although Singhs
were ready to face Abdali, but they wanted to make sure their kids,
women and elderly were at a safe distance. But Abdali came with
lightening speeds and Singhs got trapped. Still they fought bravely,
encircled their Vaheer and kept fighting. During this Ghallughara almost
half of the Sikh population (around 30,000) was finished in a day and
Abdali thought it would be end game for Sikhs, but that capable Sikh
leadership again guided the Qaum and they were ready to fight back with
Abdali in just 8-9 months.
But during 1984, the enemy was no doubt Brutal like other
Ghallughare but shrewd as well. One group of Sikh leaders was in touch
with government and asking them to send army. Second group was ready to
fight till last breath. The attacker was fully equipped with all the
stuff and to teach a lesson the day was carefully picked when there
would be maximum sangat inside.
But no Leader thought about the sangat inside the complex. Yet so many
leaders had already sent their families outside before the assault
started. Isnt this a betrayal? Also no one in Sikh leadership thought
about consequences and Operation Woodrose, Shanti and preparing lists of
Sikhs outside Punjab. Although Sri Akal Takhat Sahib was turned into
rubble (40 other historic Gurdware were also attacked), Museum was
destroyed, literature looted and burnt, thousands got killed and we feel
accomplished by constructing just a memorial? Is that good enough? We
had discussed before how Dr. Mohammad Iqbal and Jinnah made it possible
to create Pakistan without much blood-shed, but our leaders made us to
shed much blood, give lives and at the end achieved very little.
There was a time when Dhian Singh Dogra was caretaker of Sikh Raj,
Master Tara Singh was matchless leader. Today we know their reality but
when well gather courage to speak the truth about our leadership during
1984 times? Till the time we cant face the truth we cant succeed. Its
a shame that today we prefer the wordings of a Martyr than listening and
following the truth and teachings of Guru Granth Sahib ji. Isnt this a
suicidal act?
Then Guru Baba ji advise and motivate us by saying:
ਕੂੜ ਨਿਖੁਟੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਓੜਕਿ ਸਚ ਰਹੀ॥
Finally and ultimately Truth will be the Conquer.
