ਨੂੰ ਨਕਾਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਲਕਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿਉਂ ੳਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੂਛ ਚਕਦਾ

ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ
ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ।
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੋਲ ਵੇਦਾਂਤੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਖ਼ਤ ਹੈਗਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਰੱਦ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ

Just when a dispute between two groups over the
upkeep of the historic Guru Nanak Math here was threatening to spoil the
November 17 Gurpurb celebrations, Patna Sahib Jathedar Iqbal Singh on
Friday rejected the claims of one of the groups, which is based in
California.
He thus paved way for the other group to hold
the Sunday celebrations, which have been planned on a grand scale for
the first time after the gurdwara’s historic significance came to light
recently.
Daily Post found a controversy brewing between
California-based Sri Guru Nanak Sewa Society and the Sarbat Da Bhala
Charitable Trust, which is headed by Dubai-based philanthropist S P
Singh Oberoi.
While the latter insisted it had signed a pact
with Guthi Math (the government authority for religious organisations)
to hold the celebrations, the other society claimed it had been
authorised by former Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti to
manage the gurdwara’s upkeep.
However, Jathedar Iqbal Singh, who came here on
Thursday night, said, “Patna Sahib alone has jurisdiction over the
gurdwaras in Nepal and Jathedar Vedanti has no authority to authorise
anyone here. If there is any letter from Jathedar Vedanti, it stands
cancelled.’’ Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, when
contacted over phone from Amritsar, said, “I
cannot comment as I am neither aware of Vedanti’s permission, nor Iqbal
Singh’s statement.”
Earlier, he was also scheduled to come here but
his last- minute change of plan fuelled speculation that he had done it
to stay away from the controversy. When questioned, he, however,
insisted, “It’s not really because of the dispute but because of a
tragedy in the family that I had to change my plan.”
Guru Nanak Society’s office-bearer Rajinder
Singh, who has come from Chandigarh, said the five Jathedars would meet
and take the final decision. ‘’We have heard the Patna Sahib Jathedar
and will abide by his decision until a final decision is arrived at,’’
he said. ‘’We have submitted the plan but will proceed only after it
gets the local government’s clearance,’’ he added.
Jathedar Iqbal Singh pointed out that this was a
historic gurdwara, but this fact had only come to light recently. He
said Pritam Singh, who was among the first Sikhs to have come here in
the late 1950s, had along with Oberoi dug out the revenue record
according to which the then king had willed 200 acres of land to Guru
Nanak Dev.
S P Singh Oberoi of Sarbat Da Bhala Trust
said that they would welcome any organisation contributing to maintain
the gurdwara.
“However, it needs to be clarified that no one,
including our Trust, can start any kind of construction until the
government gives clearance. We also want to make it clear that if anyone
is collecting any money in the name of this gurdwara, it is illegal,’’
he said.
