ਭੇਡੈ ਪੂਛਲਿ ਲਗਿਆਂ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘੀਐ।

ਭੂਤੈ ਕੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨਿਤ ਸਹਸਾ ਜੀਐ।
Friendship with a ghost is always a source of suspicious life.

ਨਦੀ ਕਿਨਾਰੈ ਰੁਖੜਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ਨਾ ਕੀਐ।
The tree on a river bank cannot have the faith (that the river will not perish it).

ਮਿਰਤਕ ਨਾਲਿ ਵੀਆਹੀਐ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਨ ਥੀਐ।
How a woman married to a dead person could be said to be a suhagan, i.e one whose husband is alive.

ਵਿਸੁ ਹਲਾਹਲ ਬੀਜਿ ਕੈ ਕਿਉ ਅਮਿਉ ਲਹੀਐ।
How nectar could be obtained by sowing poison.

ਬੇਮੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਜਮ ਡੰਡ ਸਹੀਐ॥7॥
The friendship with an apostate brings the sufferings of the rod of Yama.

ਨੋਟ: ਇਹ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਲਈ ਹਨ, ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹਨ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹਨ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਤੇ ਲਗਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੁੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਝਾਤੀ ਮਾਰਕੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਫਰੀਦ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਲੈਣ "ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜੇ ਤੂ ਅਕਲਿ ਲਤੀਫੁ ਕਾਲੇ ਲਿਖੁ ਨ ਲੇਖ ॥ ਆਪਨੜੇ ਗਿਰੀਵਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ॥" ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਖਾਦੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਥਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਸਰ ਉਥੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਦਰਦ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤੇ ਜੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹਨ।
