ਮੂਰਖ ਵਿਣ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਰਬੀ ਹੈ
Devoid of virtues, the stupid is arrogant

ਰੁਖਾਂ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੁਰੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਅਰੰਡੁ ਅਞਾਈ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਏ।
The worst possible among the trees is castor tree which undeservedly makes itself noticed.

ਪਿਦਾ ਜਿਉ ਪੰਖੇਰੂਆਂ ਬਹਿ ਬਹਿ ਡਾਲੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਫਾਏ।
A very small among the birds goes an jumping from one branch to another and feels much inflated.

ਭੇਡ ਭਿਵਿੰਗਾ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਰੈ ਤਰਣਾਪੈ ਦਿਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਵਲਾਏ।
The sheep, too, during its brief... youth bleats loudly (proudly).

ਮੁਹੁ ਅਖੀ ਨਕੁ ਕਨ ਜਿਉਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਾਂਡਿ ਸਦਾਏ।
Anus also feels proud of being called one of the organs like eye, ear, nose and mouth.

ਮੀਆ ਘਰਹੁ ਨਿਕਾਲੀਐ ਤਰਕਸੁ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ਟੰਗਵਾਏ।
The husband even while kicked out of home by wife hangs his quiver at the door.

ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਾਣਸਾਂ ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰੈ ਆਲਾਏ।
Similarly among the human beings, the stupid one devoid of all virtues feels proud of himself and persistently tries to get noticed.

ਮਜਲਸ ਬੈਠਾ ਆਪੁ ਲਖਾਏ ॥੧੩॥
In an assembly, he beholds only his ownself (and not the wisdom of others).

ਨੋਟ: ਇਹ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਲਈ ਹਨ, ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹਨ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹਨ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਤੇ ਲਗਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੁੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਝਾਤੀ ਮਾਰਕੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਫਰੀਦ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਲੈਣ "ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜੇ ਤੂ ਅਕਲਿ ਲਤੀਫੁ ਕਾਲੇ ਲਿਖੁ ਨ ਲੇਖ ॥ ਆਪਨੜੇ ਗਿਰੀਵਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੁ ॥" ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਖਾਦੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਥਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਸਰ ਉਥੇ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਦਰਦ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤੇ ਜੇ ਇਹ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਬਿਮਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹਨ।
